Pedstrian Slip Resistance Analysis

Warner Forensic and Safety Engineering utilizes state-of-the-art equipment that is recognized by leading forensic practitioners and the scientific community for the evaluation of walking surface accidents.

Traction testing of walking surfaces under both dry and wet conditions is performed using the English XL tribometer. A tribometer is a device that measure pedestrian slip resistance. It is identified in ASTM standards as the Variable Incidence Tribometer (VIT).

A certification program developed and administered by the International Safety Academy (ISA) in cooperation with William English, Inc has been implemented to certify users of the Variable Incidence Tribometer (VIT). This is currently the only certification program for a tribometer, and the VIT is the only device that has a certification program.
